When the word hormone is mentioned, people are generally quick to associate it with female health issues such as painful periods, hot flushes, night sweats, and mood swings. However, hormones are so much more than that. Hormone imbalance or endocrine disruption affects both men and women and in many ways that you may not expect.
Did you know that weight gain, depression, anxiety, fatigue, low IQ, insomnia, sexual
dysfunction, and loss in muscle mass are all symptoms of hormone imbalance? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Hormone imbalance is the most ignored cause of disease. Left untreated, it can lead to heart disease, dementia, obesity, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, cancer, infertility,
and diabetes.
Hormones are messengers say. They turn things on, they turn things off. Hormones really are the foundation of life. Without hormones, we really would not exist. We wouldn’t be able to drive the different systems that happen in our bodies.
Hormone imbalance can really happen at any age, and that’s what I always try to impress upon men and women.
It drives me crazy because a hormone imbalance is absolutely an epidemic, and I see it in
men just as much as I see it in women. I really want people to seek help. I want them to get
empowered and I want them to know that their fatigue, their night sweats, their lack
of motivation, that their low libido, that their belly fat gain, their hair loss, men or women, it
really doesn’t matter, it’s all hormones.
Hormones are what make the human body go round. Hormones are chemical messengers
that help connect A to B and B to C and beyond, all the way to Z. And so, if our hormones are not working, if our chemical messengers are not working, then the message is never going to get sent.
It’s like a text message that never gets sent. You try to text your best friend, “Hey, what are
you doing? Let’s do this” they never got it. As a result, things don’t happen. It’s the same in
business. You send an email. If the email never gets sent, you’re going to lose money, you’re
going to cause problems.
If insulin gets out of balance, it can kill you in eight to 12 hours. So it’s imperative that insulin stays in balance. If your adrenals get out of balance and you don’t have enough cortisol in your system, it can kill you in a couple of weeks. If you don’t have thyroid hormones, that will kill you in a couple of months.
So it’s super, super important that we address these metabolic hormones and we address
supporting those particular glands in our body because they run our metabolism. Every one
of these groups work interdependently. They’re not independent, they work together every
time, all the time. And so, if anything gets out of balance, all of it gets out of balance.
If you’re suffering from hormonal imbalance, you should feel hopeful, too. Whether you’re
just now recognising that this is the common thread in all of your symptoms or even if you’ve already received a professional diagnosis, it’s important to know that you have the power to restore balance to your endocrine system.
If hormone imbalance is left untreated or ignored, honestly you may get everything from just mild fatigue and some hair loss all the way up to cancer risk, autoimmune risk, cardiovascular disease, GI issues that are really pretty serious. And so, I really try to impress upon men and women don’t ignore it. Don’t think that,”Oh, I just have a little bit of hormone imbalance” or, “I’m a little tired now” or, “My PMS is not so bad, but I’m getting it worse every month, and hope it’s just going to get better”.
Because what I don’t want are these hormonal imbalances to progress on to something like
cancer, like breast cancer, like prostate cancer, like autoimmune disease, heart disease,
Alzheimer’s risk. I mean these are really pretty serious conditions, and they’re all intertwined with your hormones. So definitely don’t just leave it. Don’t just think, “Oh, it’s mild now. It’s mild today,” because in the future is what I’m really concerned about.
By the time people come to see me because they’ve seen all their other doctors, and it’s not working. I see the patients who, what I call, fall into the cracks of modern medicine. They’re miserable, they’re getting worse and worse. And so, when I work them up, and sometimes the issues are pretty obvious, but my motto is to leave no stone unturned. If you look at what they call the fundamental root causes of disease, why do people get disease, I sit there and go through all the causes with that client and I say, “Which ones might apply to you? Is it epigenetics? Is it diet? Is it toxins? Is it hormones, nutrients? What is it?”
We look at all of those and then basically once we decide, well, it might be some toxins, then we look for those.
So we do a heavy metal challenge test. We look for mould. We look for organics. Then when
we find what the issues are, then we do targeted detoxification, and wow! People get better.
It’s really amazing!!!
I’m not here to bash standard medicine. When I opened my mind, I didn’t really throw away regular medicine. I added to it. I still use regular medicine sometimes but it isn’t the only solution.
